Komyo Reiki Practice

A Reiki session is a blissful way to have your balance restored and to come to centre. As a regular, daily meditation, taking Komyo Reiki training can add a whole new dimention so our personal practice. The first and foremost important element in the way Reiki is practiced here at The Dojo is a committment to a daily Reiki self healing meditation. Komyo Reiki places emphasis on personal spiritual transformation or Satori - through Reiki practice. (Inamoto-san teaches that Usui-sensei intended his system to be a path to enlightenment) Komyo is taught in four levels:

  1. Shoden
  2. Chuden
  3. Okuden
  4. Shinpiden (Teacher level)

Each level of Reiki allows the practitioner to deepen their path to self awareness and enlighenment. The focus of the first two levels is on the therapeutic aspect of Reiki, while the third and fourth levels have a more spiritual focus. Each level is not considered an 'advancement' on the previous, but rather each level simply has a specific element of the overall teaching to convey.

Shoden Degree ~ Self Healing

The first level opens the doors to the awareness of ourselves as a light being. Here we take responsibility for our own healing.

At this level, students will go through a transformation, of physical, emotional and spiritual awareness. This allows the evolution of the ego and the mind so that the student can "move themselves aside" and allow Reiki to flow. The first degree has one symbol.

For 21 days after the class, students receive an email containing reminders of the daily mediation practice and notes of encouragement to help them through the first part of the journey.

It is important at this stage to establish a connection to the Reiki energy. Regular attunements and counsel sessions with Shihan Robert or Lorie can greatly imporove the ease of the path. Students who have taken advantage of regular access to training and the teachers have been the most successful. Take a look at the membership for the best way to stay in touch.

Chuden Degree ~ Healing Others

While the second level begins the path for assisting others in their healing, the focus still remains on a deeper path of self healing as we become practitioners. During the second degree, three symbols are taught, and training focuses on healing others and practicing our own path to enlightenment.

As a healer, we transform even deeper to become aware of each person, including ourselves, as a perfect part of the Whole of this Universe. When we can see the spirit of each being, we can see the perfection. Reiki is the universal energy/life force that is in everything. As healers, we exist without ego to allow the client to use the Reiki as they need.

Okuden Degree ~ Inner Teaching

Level 3 introduces the student to the more spiritual aspects of putting the Reiki principles into action in your daily living. This degree includes attunement to the fourth shirushi (symbol) and jumon (mantra) and how to use it.

At this level, and through Shinpiden (teacher), the role of Mastery exists only as a path to mastery of oneself. Using ones life as the teaching is the path of Satori. We live the principles of Reiki in our everyday life, honouring each person's path and creating opportunities for the sharing of gifts.

Shinpiden~ Teacher

Teacher training is an individual path. True teachers are those who keep the path of their own practice consistent and evolving. Those who choose to dedicate their path to Reiki each do so in their own unique manner. As you become aware of your interest in committing yourself to this path, please approach us to discuss how we can best unfold the journey with you. It is the hope that many Dojo healing centers will open across the province and the world, so more teacahers are definitely needed!
